How many times have you received a text message which says something like this?  I’m 101% sure that your toes and fingers combined aren’t even enough to count how many times your inbox had entertained room for a message asking you to forward it to a minimum of X number of people guaranteeing you of a miracle that would happen in the next Y days.

At first thought, there seems to be no problem.  What would you lose anyway? With the advent of unlimited text messaging, it’s easy to comply with what these text messages are asking you to do.  No need to worry about your credits.  Fifteen pesos worth of a day’s unlimitxt could bring your message to all the same network subscribers in your phonebook. So, what’s there to lose? Seems like there’s none. But think again.

Deciding to follow what the text message asks you to do is tantamount to letting you become its slave.  You succumb to it and let it control you. Your faith is shaken by this make-believe message composed by who-knows-who. Indeed, it is a test—a test which reflects where you stand, to whom or what you believe in, and how stable your faith is to the Omniscient God.

Do you stand on a firm ground? Will you pass the message?
